Squat - The first event of powerlifting competitions, the squat is dubbed the king of lower body exercises and getting stronger at it will put on slabs of mass to the musculature of the lower body. It is arguably the best test of true lower body strength.
Bench Press - This is performed second in competitions, and is considered to be the gold standard in measuring upper body strength as it recruits the most amount of muscle - chest, shoulders, triceps and even the back to an extent - compared to other pressing movements.
Deadlift - The final event in powerlifting competition, an athlete’s deadlift strength can almost be predicted by the degree of development of their posterior chain (muscles in the back). Nothing screams strong more than being able to hoist a ridiculously heavy load off the floor.
